A belding ground squirrel pup nuzzles up to his mother on The Nature Conservancy's Zumwalt Prairie Preserve. The pups first emerged from their burrow the previous week. Called locally "red diggers", they provide a food source for one of tha largest concentrations of breeding raptors in North America.
